Those are the steps to charge Prius hybrid battery.
Step 1. Apply Parking Breaks (Safty)
Step 2. Push Breaks (This will cut engine power to transmission)
Step 3. Gently apply acceleration slowly till the battery status shows charging.
When Charging it will require more power to continue the charging. you can gently apply acceleration till the battery charge.
